Norman Alex Atherton "Stormin' Norman"

Norman Alex Atherton, was born September 19, 1950 and passed away August 1, 2006. He was preceded in death by his father & mother, Norman Jean & Pauline Atherton. He is survived by his 6 daughters, Sunshine Dawn Trout, Charrissa Sue Graham, Misty Dawn Burke, Crystal Faith Spriggs, Angela Hope Atherton, Alexanderia Charity Kee; 8 grandchildren, Christian, Cameron, Madison, Kylar, Trinity, Kaylee, Dillon and Kynzie; sister and brother-in-law Vicki and Mark Williams; nephews, Pryce and Trenton Williams; brother, Larry Atherton. He was born and raised in OKC and attended Moore High School in the 60's. Norman was a self-employed general contractor & carpenter for over 40 years. He was instrumental in renovation of the Oklahoma City Zoo amphitheatre and Prairie Lady Music Hall in the 1970's. A natural born entertainer and musician, he played Wild West Rock and Roll in the early 70's and later found his true passion for the blues. He was an active member of the Oklahoma Blues Society and board member of the Tornado Alley Blues Association. Norman was known on the blues circuit as 'Stormin' Norman' and 'Moose Atherton', characterized for his soulful vocals, screamin' lead guitar, and piano playing. Norman was a loving father, brother, uncle and grandfather, and friend. He was a strong man of faith with a loving conviction for his family. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 10:30 A.M at the Lakeside United Methodist Church, 2925 NW 66th, interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
